Fair

No one ever said that life is fair
But is it just too much to hope for justice?
For serenity? For an easy way for just one day?
I’ve never felt free since I left my mother’s hip.
It’s been a constant struggle
For acceptance, for love, for attention
For money, for hope, for faith, for courage, for desire,
For a dream

No one ever said that life is fair
But I drive in the fast lane
And everybody’s passing me
Life stopped, but my heart still beats
I fell out of my cocoon without wings
And I can’t hop, jump, bounce, leap or climb
High enough to fly
Guess I’ll never be a butterfly

No one ever said that life is fair
I’m so tired of the war that continuously
Goes on in my head
I’m tired of the struggle, I’m tired of the fight
The disappointments that come when the breaks don’t
The injustice of it all!
I’m tired of hoping, of wishing, of praying
Life is not fair
And I’m tired of being fair to life.
