Wanting Longevity…

All the Young Black men

Save me… I am an endangered species
Save me… I grew up in a normal household, I go to school
I get good grades, and I never get in trouble
Save me… I aspire to become an Astronaut, a Doctor, or Lawyer
A Writer, Chief of Police, a Chef, a Fire fighter, an Animator, a Movie Director,
Maybe President…
But somehow some way, all of my dreams can be taken away from me
And my Parents can be left alone and in pain
Save me…
Help Please! I need your help!
I have done no wrong
Save me… My parents have bought me plenty of hoodies
Yes—-I listen to Rap music and I hang out with my friends

Save me… my life may be taken by hatred or bigotry
I may be racially profiled at any time —- Save me…
I am Black,
I am Negro,
I am Black,
I am Colored,
I am Black,
I am African American
I am Black…
Save me!

I was inspired to write this poem because of the killings of innocent young African Americans. all killings of such are horrible. But I just wanted to say something. Hope it stops! For all sakes.
