The Faceless One

I stand and face this crimson blade
Drenched with souls that look at me in disgust
Unbothered by this I carry on
Fulfilling the only role that suits me in this dark world
I carry on ignoring the cries I have sheathed
Tears staining my clothes and hands
And continues to do so until I wash them clean
And when I do I stare into the waters
And see a reflection of a faceless monster
And I am neither surprised nor ashamed
The steel jumps in and reveals the same
A monster with a face of nothing
The cries melt away and dissipate
Most notably that one little girl
But eventually as I continue on
Despair itself finds its way back to me
And I am forced to endure the fruits of my own doing
A fitting fate for a monster as empty as me
