I Can't Reach Their Crown

Verse 1: Been a while since I’ve took some time for me.
Winters here so all I sound are sad melodies.
I pretend I live loud, but here I go livin’ low.
I’ll do anything to get out of my parents house and I’ll do anything to grow.

Verse 2: Cut from cable and had to put down my first pet.
My man and I are going sour better yet.
And I’ve got so much ahead to lose, if I tell my mom he’s as old as you,
I won’t see the sun another day working towards her approval again.

Chorus: God damn this cottage house. Keeping every thing left to say to myself.
I can’t take the pressure, can’t swallow my shame of all my disapproving youth mistakes.
Mothers mad and Dads let down, another fail for the crown.
                                      I can’t reach their crown (x2)

Verse 3: I’m just waiting for that day.
When her sharp words and hellish eyes have no effect on me.
At a house where small things matter, and I’m trash for my nose ring,
And no girl will make it far in life if she’s got any ink.

Bridge: I’ll never be able to be me around them.
Doing hair as my career isn’t good enough to them.
Disapproving all my friends, left by myself to fend,
No i’ll never be able to reach your golden crown, will I?
Cause all you’ve ever seen in me is skimming by.

I can’t I can’t I can’t reach their crown
And I won’t and never will bow down.
I can’t I can’t I CAN’T reach their crown.
And there won’t be a day I back down.

I’m sorry I’ll never reach your crown.
