Sirena (Sestina)

The sound of water rushes toward me, eyes closed, I am ready to be taken.
Flotsam and jetsam surround me in a dance lead by the sway of the waves.
Let me overflow.
Moonlight creates an eerie glow over the decks of the ships passing me, leaving me behind.
The only voice is the wind sweeping, singing to the waves as they gently lull’ me to sleep.
I am the breath of the sea.

Water starts to fill me, it makes me so heavy, I am becoming the sea.
A sound escapes my lips, only to be by the water taken.
Clouds separate, waking from their sleep.
Thrashing about, disturbing the rhythm of the waves.
Sinking, I sense the commotion that is now behind.
Ships sailing in the storm suddenly sinking, flooding, filling me with their overflow.

A slue of cargo follows me down, as I let the water take me deeper into the depths of its overflow.
Falling deeper into the depths, I hear the cries of those who have no words,  Whales call from behind.
I reach the bottom, the floor is littered with those ships unable to escape the sounding call of the sea.
My sound is the song of those who have been taken.
Claimed as victims of the dancing waves.
Called to sea, claimed by the Siren, laid in the sea to sleep.

I find myself walking among the wreckage; I am the sandman of the sea, close your eyes, sleep.
Dreams like treasures, they overflow.
A song flows out of my pale lips like watery dance of the soothing waves.
“Time it took us, to where the water was...” I sing to the sleeping sea.
Look into the depths of my pooling eyes, fall in, be taken.
Don’t stop to look behind.

My voice echos in hulls of the ships, resonating throughout and behind.
Its hard to disturb the men that here sleep.
To another realm they have been taken.
I am the one who calls, my name is the sea.
Memories overflow.
Singing the songs of the ships below, to the ships still floating on the waves.

I resurface, showing my face to the world above the waves.
Leaving the depths of the wordless and sleeping behind.
The sound the water stole resurfaces with me, the sweet song that forces one to the sea.
Softly growing in the ears, guiding them slowly to the tender embrace of a watery sleep.
“Lay me down, let the only sound. Be the overflow”
Allow your self to be slowly by the sea taken.

Follow me through the curtain of waves.
Let the water take you, surrounding you in the gentle sway of sleep.

Forget about the world behind.
Follow me into the overflow.

My voice is that of the siren, the cry that leads men to the sea.
Concede to the sea, follow me down,  allow yourself to be taken.
