Society

DEAR SOCIETY,
She remembers when you said ‘I love you’
and when you said ‘I hate you’.
She cannot remember the emotions that corrupt her memories
shaped her early life.
She remembers...
Her second schooling; the happiness and acceptance
before you tore down the wall of deception.
You, who were hiding your true colours;
           the ugliness of your skin,
           the colours that broke down
an eight year old little girl.

DEAR SOCIETY
Do you remember?
All those names?
             Fat
                     Worthless
    Ugly
          Dumb
The time you called an eight year old girl a racist?
Do you remember when you used her
pigtails, smiles and all
just to get to her brother?
You pushed her to the ground
after you had fed on her soul
and you left her.
She had lost her flavour.

DEAR SOCIETY
she tries not to remember you -
forgets the best part of a year.
She is now eleven and for the past year
she has lived with joy,
with friends who she will remember.

Society, you decided it was time again -
another uphill battle with you.
You tormented her; you did this
for no reason other than she was there.
Society, you tore at this little girl’s whole world.
You enjoyed stealing her happiness.
          You pushed her so hard
          to make her believe
That no one would ever love her.

DEAR SOCIETY
a fourteen year old girl
is surrounded
By friends’ hatred and feuds
friends fighting friends over a rumour,
her own battle, fought with razor sharp walls,
a steep fall into a pit of pills,
a steep mountain a topped with a noose.
Monsters and voices inhabit her
and they outweigh any phrase about precious life.
She who borrows unhelpful advice
with big words which say,
‘IF I AM BIGGER YOU WILL LISTEN’

She tries to forget;
she tries not to give in.
              She is weak;
She hits the walls to tear her body open.

               Let the blood pour.
               Scar her body.
               Let this go on—
She is to become useless for others’ dealings.
