Breathe

My body’s tied in knots,
My heart the biggest one,
It cannot be unraveled,
Loosened or undone,
I wish it served a purpose,
I wish I had a voice,
And God almighty do I wish,
My aching head could have a choice.
I was a walking corpse,
An empty hurting shell,
Stuck inside myself,
Within a homemade hell,
You knocked me off my feet,
So hard that I saw spots,
Then took my lonely heart,
And tied it up in knots.
I can finally breathe,
You cleared the stagnant air,
And in its place you left a breeze,
That ran its fingers through my hair.
I’m so tied up that I can’t move,
And yet I feel so free,
You gave me you without regret,
And then you gave me me.

Thank you.
