A family trait Massage Is our vice No shame Take what
I love to hear poetry read Rather than performed I love to hear each word Appreciated Rather than memorized
If I could draw a tree In all it’s complexity Would you be impressed? If I could draw a human face It would be but a trace
I will be Forever in debt To my mother Any gift Would come up short
I need to tell you How to survive With our disposition It’s okay to cry Maybe
She is no longer Part of my life I’ve moved on My life is full With friends
I’ve known Deep inside All along My value That I matter
My poems are short Written at night In my head I wake at dawn Shake my memory
Nothing makes people flee Like reading them poetry They value it in theory But please don’t make them read Surprise me with your verse
Long and slender Her every movement Deliberate and graceful Composed as She listens quietly
I do not enjoy roller coasters I am not chicken But they say You just have to try it! So I do
