Nights in the Trees

Sundown upon me,
meandering amongst them;
enchanted, midst the dimness,
inveigled by their mighty sway.
Whirring winds
hem me in,
safe,
encompassed;
crisp, rustling leaves,
stirring,
murmurs,
creaking,
comfort.
Leaning in repose,
reflection,
sinking into spongy bark,
drawing fresh oxygen,
expelling pollution
from body,
and mind alike.
Breathe,
share stillness,
in the new,
unknown,
ascend/descend,
submerged,
round and round
in consciousness–
fused–
my pulse slows,
each momentous beat
more tempered than the last.
Radiance,
left to right,
silky silver, glides;
embracing
without a sound,
illuminating blue.
Cradled in connection,
through lucid contemplation,
hours turned
in second’s blink,
watched,
in arms of willow.
