Winter Memories

Here comes another winter!

Both wrapped up tightly in what seems to be
our wardrobes in their entirety.
Up to our blushing noses and cheeks,
trying to keep out the bitter, biting air.

Our breath, like clouds, disappearing so slow,
as we admire the beautiful, glistening scenery.
Everything almost looked black and white,
with the flakes in the air and the soft morning light.

Numb fingers and toes, and squinting eyes,
blinded by winters thick, diamond filled blanket,
determined to find the best slope on the hill,
for our sledges, so dusty, have yearned for this thrill.

And my heart yearns too, but not for the sledging,
for sweet time with you and such warmth you are giving.
You’re so unaware of how empty i am
without seeing your smiles; without hearing your voice.
