Wishing Well

Wishing Well

Where are you going?
Hidden underneath your pen?
If patience is a virtue
Take your time and count to ten

Well if your doing fine
You know they’ll try
To pull you down

And when your always smiling
A jester doesn’t need a crown

Are you looking for the freedom
To live the way
You want to choose
Well be careful how your treading
And certain
Some will hope you’ll lose
You open up your heart
A scream is louder than a yell
But keep all your hidden secrets
In the bottom of your wishing well

How many faces see you?
Remember, they can’t see inside
Maybe you would let them
If only, but they never tried

You wonder the impossible
Needing someone close to tell
What happened to encouragement
Can you hear the distant bell?

You open up your heart
A scream is louder than a yell
But keep all your hidden secrets
In the bottom of your wishing well

Lee Rice

(2012)

I wanted to write something about jealousy and how people can sometimes
not accept you for who you are.
