She told him,
“You’re not the same kind of kid.”
He went to put up the mask,
But it was already there in a perfect cast.
The more he thought he was mastering proved
He was just an amateur.
That’s when he spoke to her:
“Welcome to the school charade.
Choose a persona and join the parade.
No one feels how they’re really made.
We’re all freaks and outcasts of every shade,
So please, my Darling, pick up as mask
And join me in the Masquerade.”
She stared at he.
He at she.
She saw a glimpse of who
He use to be.
Through sad eyes she ran away,
Silenced by the choice he had no voice to say.
He mouthed,"I still love you."
Behind the mask she couldn’t see.
The worst of it all was
He is you,
And she was me.
