Skinny Love

(Falling in love is not a secret)

Jane and John were two in the same;
Both just a piece in the other ones game.
They started so young, yet were together 'til old
Until the end of their story was eventually told.
John loved Jane.
Jane loved John,
And when one  was away, the other felt wrong.
When Jane got sick,
John nursed her well,
And when John was enraged, Jane couldn’t yell.
They were a puzzle with all the pieces,
An old book with all of the creases.
Not to be mistaken of other special people in their life,
But John never found them fit to be Jane’s husband, and she never to his wife.
So they pointed the flaws,
Breaking unspoken laws.
John couldn’t  lie,
Jane did cry..
It damaged and broke,
And sobbing filled the spaces between words to be spoke.
Though one took it harder,
The other the martyr.
But it hurt all the same,
Because love is a game where nobody wins, everyone’s hurt, yet no one’s to blame.

(2013)

This something i wrote for the pair that were a perfect fit, yet never found the other to be their missing piece.
