Blankets

Drowing in blankets
Gasping for air
Reaching grabbing until I clutch your stare
Lungs deflating into a flat line
Rigid muscles falling slack
Pulse that soared like a mustang moments ago
Is broken beaten until there is no more
Vision blurred along with my mind
Draining me of all will to fight
Just as I’ve accepted my fate
Like always you release snatching my freedom away
My loving husband falls beside me with a chuckle and grin
As I join the world once more
Reaching somewhere new
Clutching what is as cold as your heart
Taking back my freedom that was never yours to start
