Sky Bound

I can see the mountains
Living in the flattest state around
They rise as the sun sets just right
Luring my eyes upward and away
Impossibly chasing the collage of peaks
Before they melt into the night
A horizontal plain limits my range
If only this body of mine could travel skyward
To the illusion that reads as mountains
That planes would only fly through
All there is left to do is watch the mass
Change colors as the sun sinks
Leaving me sky bound
