the cobbled streets of home

the cobbled streets of my home town have all but gone
a childhood rained on by a salacious tarmac effigy,
this town was once a dickensian snapshop
not much changed from the seventies to the seventies,

now this place has lost its heart, its fever that built my mind
I muse sometimes when I walk alone and watch bygone days meld by,
the cobbled streets and victorian buildings all disappearing
for soulless monuments that sore my eyes; no thoughts distilled from the wonders of dark corners,
