A poet never sleeps

I wake up at three,
to write my poetry.
Most of the time,
I don’t get enough sleep.

Ideas are constantly
running through my head.
I’ve broken my pencils,
and have lost all my lead.

People don’t understand,
that I am a poet.
And I’ll always awake
at odd times,
to write what I must.

Poetry is something,
we simply all need.
otherwise we would have no emotions,
and never feel happy.

I think anyone who reads this knows that it's true.

Damn those poet Gods for waking us up in the wee hours of the morning. But at least they stay in our spirit all the time.

True poem Lucas, yes you are a poet, and I hope you'll continue to write, because I enjoy it very much.

Hahaha yes we all have those hopelessly creative drives when all we want to do is sleep. This poem reminded me of one I had written a couple of months ago, titled "Voices in the Night."

Keep up the good work
