John

You would know him if you ever met him

I once asked a man what he was writing about
He looked up at me with the obvious answer
Women.

That’s all I ever write about. They are the
one thing I could never quite understand
he said

I smiled back flattered to think maybe a note
or two would be about me
My smile went away

My pages started to get filled
never before has my hand felt paper
never before has my hand been in sync

with my inner thoughts let loose into
this unstable world
My hand begins to fall

Off of the page and I peer below me
to see your name written in messy
handwriting

Your name was spelled wrong
My body  in cramps
and my mind stressed

At the bottom of the page
spells out your name
Men.
