Clutching at straws

My mind is barricaded
with parasitic thoughts;
It keeps me awake.
As I suffer in the silence
of the night
There’s not much more
that I can take.
I’ve seen what It does
and I’ve felt It’s wrath
as the person slips away.
But no amount of words
and no amount of pills
will make it all okay.
I am clutching at straws
just trying to stay sane.
But in the darkness of my mind
I hear the whispering of my name.
