A Bowl of Soup at Ramadhan
 
It is a simple recipe taught by my mate Idress
With healthy ingredients it is simply the best
A Morroccan soup that is known as hjerida
The Morroccans they know how to feed ya
It is usually made in the ninth lunar month
It’s a soup that nourishes and gives strength
During the holy month of blessed Ramadhan
An arcane practice that can enrich a wise man
A neat recipe all the way from the Rift valley
Given to me by a mussleman who was pally
Made with olive oil, salt, pepper and stock
A fine spicy taste you that just cannot mock
With fresh finely cut onion, garlic n peppers
It would strengthen and even cure poor lepers
Herbs, mixed curry spices, and chopped tomatos
A beat egg stirred in just to nicely top it all off
Served at sunset after a day of hungry fasting
To thirstly slurp fine soup is quite satisfying
Oh to dip and to dunk in the broth one’s bread
A soup that infuses wisdom, keeps one well fed
A spiritual meal served during sacred Ramadhan
Can truely nourish the spirit and mind of a man
