Poem: Goodnight

One gentle moment of life, a covenant of spring
Once more I hold you in my arms, my only heart’s delight
For I know that I must leave you soon, fading with the night
Your hair benenath my fingers, feels like silken thread
And your eyes, oh those hazel eyes, they fill my heart with dread
To look into those eyes once more would surely cost my heart
I’d lose myself within their depths, and never could depart
Your hands, they go right through me and take my very soul
But then you put it back again, and I’ve never been so whole
Your touch, it flows through me like the blood within my veins
Easing all the doubts and fears, and washing away my pains
Every tiny gesture, helps the dream come shining through
Ensuring that every thought I have is a precious thought of you
Sacred night, granted wish, I only pray for this dream
A long and lingering kiss goodnight beside a moonlit stream.
