lifts her body
with eyes closed
the Doctor explains
she’s reacting to the pain
and the convulsions
are the first stage
and the last journey
of her life
Mom gasps
for her breath
Dad
staring away
the disease
destroyed her liver
she tried to endure
but there is no cure
as death walks her way
Mom cried
there wasn’t enough time
that wicked soul
stopped me
from telling
