Ignition

(1)

My back, now bare,
is seared by the ignition,
of your escaping flame.

And behind me, a valley,
uncharted and vast,
stretches beyond the moon,
to softly kiss,
the edge of the horizon.

(2)

Uncaged and oblivious,
I safeguard my destiny,
on benighted wings.

And steadfast, I arrive,
to consume the hollow,
in hopes that the weary,
contain the essence,
to transmute my spirit whole.

(3)

My flesh, now revealed,
presses against the divide,
of your ageless hatred.

And slowly I surmise,
the folly of my efforts,
I gather courage,
and shed the scales,
of your crimson silhouette.

(4)

My velvet disguise,
is blurred beyond the ice,
which restrained me.

My hands on frosted glass,
traces the memory,
of your weightless form,
and I sigh, in knowing,
that the valley is mine,

...to explore.
