An Answer

For years we roam unaware of how short life will be
We ponder shortly and infrequently about eternity.
Oh, we weave our story thread by knot by thread
We entangle ourselves in the tales we have said.

When the future carries everything we say
Little ears and empty walls listen like a canvas ready for its purpose
These poor little pawns so innocent they’re unaware what hurt is.
All we ever do is wait and weave and knit ourselves into
The wise and knowing elders we once knew
We are forever waiting for the Answer
We are forever pausing
