Rubric

The rules are set in stone
Not to be challenged by the mere inpotence that is you
The expectations are clear
Don’t say you weren’t warned

We have been taught from day one
That list of commandments scrolled on piercing white paper
Do not be late
Always be prepared
No chewing gum
Repeated for 15 years as we transition grade by grade
Only the teachers and subjects change
But where does that put us now?

Those constant rhythmed sentiments are nowhere to be seen here
I find no solace is continuity of that paper here
We are no more bound by the careful structure we’ve been trained
In this unstructured mess called “real world”
We have no rubric to stave anarchy.
