Truth

Drowning in my shallow waters
The wait of pain and loss drag me down
My hoarse voice calls across the soul
I am looking for you to answer.

You are supposed to be my saving grace
The sanity to my asylum mind
So why do you pull away when I reach out?

My song is crushed in the waves of hidden tears
Emotions churning and ripping through me like a fierce storm
Porcelain and strings hide these unsightly beasts of the heart

Why
I warned you, begged you, explained
I cannot be the doll that you collect.
My love has been trampled, torn, and turned to shards
That cut my hand.

I am the only one who is left to pick up those pieces
My being is suffocating in a sea of shards
You are meant to pull me free
Instead you bury me deeper.

Like a rose in a storm
My thorns will only protect me for so long
My innocence isn’t completely whole
I am that flower
And I am fading.
