Without a Second Tick

Without a second tick
Inside another nightmare
The clock chimes the passing of the hour

Oh sweet vengeful time
You part those we love
Yet keep the memory of them crisp
In our ever changing, ever fleeting minds

I remember him
His cocky smile and silly voices
I can’t
Hear his true voice, see his joy
The memories soothe the wounds of that which time had wrought destruction through the weapon of forget
There is 14 years of memories twisting and pulsing through my veins
But the past 5 years of loss haunt my ever wallowing frame

I could have saved you
I could have taken your place
The world doesn’t need another girl
It needs the mischievous grin
The silly voices
And the good soldier to be its protector

The people gathered well into the thousands for him, and I can ny think of 30 who would show for me
I was not put here to make the world safe as he had been for me so many times

I was not put here to save lives through passion and loyalty and strength as he had.

He was supposed to save the world, like all big brothers. Instead he took my place.
He would have fixed the world, and I shall be its ruin.
