Your Heart Was Mine

To my silly love

Your crooked smile has stolen my heart
And the sentiments stole my soul

Your eyes catch my breath
And their warmth my love

Your laughter sends echoes through me
And the pain now pads the void

When you said you were leaving
My being collapsed in agony

But

Your words brought back a spark
The flame of  resilience rekindled by cruelty

Your knowledgelessness crashed like waves
Quenching the dryness of my blind admiration

Learning the truth gave a new purpose to this tired doll
Your loss gave me the most precious gift of all

I stand alone
On my own two feet

No longer leaning on my expectations of you
Carried by the dream I claimed you to be

I am saved by the grace of your idiocy
And I am grateful for when your heart was mine.
