So Much For the Subtlety

The course is run
The fever ran
The sun it also rises
And the river picks up sand
The husband and the wife
Hold each others hand
The pilgrims keep on coming
But the punches never land
I’m lost in reflection
With no dream but a plan
I’ve done the other thing
And now I’ll stand where I stand
I’ll stumble where I stumble
And I’ll land where I land
But there is one thing
I want you to understand

I don’t think that we were meant to live on this earth long
I think that we could learn to love each other just a little bit more

The captain and his daughter
Went and read William Faulkner
While the ships light burnt bright at sea
Silver and fast the snow fell passed
The girls grace given sincerity
All the stars that cry
In the bible black sky
Must one day burn-out
I met a girl from Spain
When I was in Peru
And if you had seen here eyes
You’d learn Spanish too

I don’t think that we were meant to live on this Earth long
I think that we could learn to love each other just a little bit more

The night went all day
And I drank when I could
I was sad but then I was with friends
And I said to them, “I don’t know how,
I can keep on going on like I been.”
And they said to me,
“It’s your life. It’s your life. It’s your life.”
And they said to me,
“It’s your life. It’s your life. It’s your life.”

And
I don’t think that we were meant to live on this Earth long
I think that we could learn to love each other just a little bit more
