At The Doors Await

The Second Advent

At The Doors Await

Bullfrogs croaking in deep dark silence
Courting the weeds clawed in the gray
Cold tombs as long shadows drape the moist
Stiff fallow autumn grass burial ground
Seemingly amusing hallow souls under
Frail hoarse whispers slowly arising
Tearing into the frankincense embalmed air
Apparitions sway cotillion to booming croaks

Wallowing in the comforts of their tombs
An eve masquerade peepers of a parallel world
Across asphalts of streaking red and bright lights
Over there dusk silhouetted skyscraper abodes
Caves and tunnels of friends and neighbors
Contra dancing in pumpkin colors witch black
Pointed hats sashaying brooms down the streets
Merlin mouse ears tall and small high hopping kids all

At the doors await
Food and treats hope tricks begone
Kids dash door to door
Parents catch up chance to talk
Eye on kids dogs get other

Harvests gathered in silos house corn
Growing fields fallowed cattle to barn
Tree bottoms mounds of golden rainbow
Spectrum leaves spread under canopies bare now
At the summer’s omega purple shadows stretching
Longer farther as the sun beams get shorter
Disappearing faster sinking quicker yonder
Creating pirouetting mirages of darken buildings

Dragons winged medusas stirring ether land
Beyond to a dawning milky way of creation
That in the apocalypse of the setting sun
Merlin waved his wand spell casting everyone
Festival of fire and crosses the horned and angels begins
Clouds of witches’ brew smoke burning the clearing
Holy and the unholy frolicking as the naked moon rising
All Hallows’ Eve trumpeted by howling carnival winds

At the doors await
Food and treats hope tricks begone
Kids dash door to door
Parents catch up chance to talk
Eye on kids dogs get other

Through fields of corn through asphalts of buildings
Scarecrows of hay masks of gargoyles spouting fear
Not a breeze not a tempest stirred the continual feasting
Under enchantment as if something mystical is near
Colder now past the first black frost the last festival fire
Snuffed from jack-o-lantern the witches turned to purring kittens
Earth’s bounty excesses shared and again returned to mire
Sought blessings once more held hands up for the second advent
