My dear Brutus
It is so painful... you’re sadden you shake your head
Smile just to stop the hurt you grieve... dishearten and so much more
Your soul convoluted cries so much pain seeing many of your countrymen
Helpless can not withdraw from the throes of hell
Had forgotten recent history of national disquietude
Twists of vexing amnesia seem to haunt your brothers and sisters cyclically
From the damaging situations perpetrated over and over over time
By the powers that be themselves entrusted with the capacity over
Their lives the populace their future and dreams
Corrupt politicians wearing them down
Sowing self doubt and confusion
Where actions do not match spoken promises
The people outright gaslighted daily pervasively
Where are you going Philippines?
Offers for a chance to change for the betterment
From a caring North Star empathizing with you
And one among you a nurturing soul
Offers clearly rejected... shouted down damned
A better life to look forward to presented
As graciously as can be in the discourse
But living in hell for ages takes its toll
Got accustomed to it... so “why change?”
“Let it be, God is in the details ‘bahala na’
We are comfortable in this hellhole”
Heart breaking acceptance of their fate
Ironically stoic existing by the skin of their teeth
Disturbing not so much in piety but more in distress indifference
The realities of a short term paid comfort
Souls sold every time during the run for office a harvesting of votes
Few silver coins in the bag make a hard day ease up a bit
Entrenched smug naïveté a denial a way of life acceptance without recourse
Heart rending there is no smile left on your face
Tears found their way down your cheeks this time
Nothing than this could be more a pathetic way of life you murmured
“The fault is not in our stars my dear Brutus but in ourselves”
Forever a government run like hell?
