Cherry Picking
Early spring 1971 Farragut Square, DC, pondering a good
9 to 5 job. First you don't succeed...hmmm...

over 4 yearsI arrived in New York City in February 1966. At first I was working in office buildings doing clerical jobs. Then in 1972, I put an ad in the Village Voice for music arranging jobs. I worked with a lot of bands, arranging and recording and writing lead sheets for singers & etc. I sure saw a lot of pigeons, there. Then I got married in 1985 and moved to Pennsylvania. So here I am.

over 4 yearsI arrived New York in November 1972. Without a degree, having over-enjoyed seven years at UP Dilliman. With a wife and a two-month old son. I arrived on a Sunday, started working night shift following Tuesday at a garden hose factory in New Jersey, two hours away by subway/bus. Four months later I got really sick and I was fired! Best thing that happened to me. For like you, I was looking for work for a week and ended at Columbia University and worked in the mailroom. The rest is history...
Nice poem Brod.
