Untethered

Sacred Spit
             Untethered

Fifty lashes
Double for repeats
You got caught
You spit on the sidewalk
You spit into a tube
You got caught
In your ancestral genome
Sans lashes you get
Connected
Transformed
Enchanted
Suddenly
You touch reach deep
Into the past
Into the forests
Of your ancestry
Ages of family trees
Through all the migrations
Land and sea
Through all the continents
Steppes and mountains
You see
Resilient stoic
Gullied faces
Walked out of the caves
Out from darkness
Yawned
Stretched

Spit

Soaked in once more
The sun
Separated into tribal kinships
Moons ago
Never looked back
The handful homo species
Cave artists
As they were
Expressive resourceful
Wanted more
Emerging
Multiplying
Transitioning
Waging hostilities
Unrelenting
Raw and barbaric
Out farther
Into the unknown
New environment
New discoveries
Transforming
Back breaking times
Happy times
Ecclesiastical times
Consoling times
Building
Shelters sarcophaguses
From cliff side holes
To temples
To ribbed vaulted
Heaven soaring cathedrals
To iron and glass abodes
In the flatlands
Spreading love
Consummating
A new journey
From the sliver sinking sun
To the sliver rising sun
A continuum bridging the expanse
Ever a bard and balladeer
Had frozen symphonies
Into art and architecture
Affirming celebrating life
Worshiping
Many times
Reformed
Enlightened

Had brought you
A bloodline
A lifeline
A tether
From the caverns
And embedded in you
To share further
Into many more
Transformations
The all the whole
The you your

Spit

Hallowed
Like your primogenitors
A soul you are
Untethered
Lashed into a tree
A new bright leaf in the
Homo Erectus Family

My genome traced me back to the caveman Neanderthal @ 3.1% of his DNA. Fascinating! Proud to be a caveman!

Genetics, environment, and faith (three of many) influenced the development of beings it is said. Habitable earth-like planets somewhere in the Milky Way or other galaxies possibly have beings physically similar to Earth’s, like bi-pedal for example or are entirely different anatomically. Hmm...who knows? What I know is I hold my spit/saliva sacredly.

The second to the last line should read:
“A new bright leaf in the”, not “...blight...” as originally had appeared. Auto spell helper/checker has to be triple checked for typos. Auto suggested words unchecked can screw up the whole sense of your work/poem.
Sorry.
