walk backwards to prehistoric times
when humans walked out from the
cave
pointed to the ends of the world they’ll brave
unaware the 100,000 miles of blood vessels they have
be energized walking the same distance or more they crave
wander they did through all kinds of climes
improved sustained blood circulation
nourished the heart strengthened pump action
survived endured long hours of arduous
punishing walks a journey trying and strenuous
we owe it to them for taking the first act worthy
steps towards attaining a body strong a mind alert and healthy
trekking the surface of the earth engaging
for being adventurous looking ahead nature wondering
here we are today enjoying the fruit that is life
the gift of the primal steps taken eons ago now rife
from millions of footsteps across the earth
meadows river banks canyons mountains mud dirt
back beating under the sun jaw shivering cold night
reinvigorate even more today the passion is alive walk with all your might
