insomnia
3:40 am
as I lay in bed
couldn’t sleep a wink
i suddenly had a feeling
I felt an unbearable pain
tears rolled down my cheeks
though I could not explain them I couldn’t stop them
I felt so many things at once
thought of my childhood; my teenage years and motherhood
I thought of what if’s
I thought of what could have been but is not
I thought of time
as I lay in bed
couldn’t sleep a wink
I suddenly had a feeling
the kind of insomnia even warm milk couldn’t help
i couldn’t stop crying though I could not explain why
i couldn’t put it in words
a deep pain
