Tigress

An allegory of despair

A tigress roars.

In a trap.
A whirlwind fury
Of orange fire and black storm
Back and forth
She leaps.
To no avail
She tries to shake
The agonizing pain.
That merciless metal
Won’t let go
Of the broken bones,
Broken soul.
She cries a tortured moan.

Loathsome, wretched people
Who put that trap in her path,
They listen,
As unearthly sounds
Rip from her throat.
Their chests contract,
Their hearts stop
And they forget to breath,
Paralyzed by fear
Of the horrible song of death
That goddess of jungle,
Mistress of night
Sings,
As their eyes reflect
Vengeful light of the moon
And fill with bitter tears
For what they have wrought.

The tigress lets out an angry scream.
She calls for her Beloved.
How he hears her...
His heart leaps across distances.
His furious roar joins in pair with hers.
He is coming!
Vengeance and justice are coming!
By dawn
No one in that village stirs,
Dead.
But so is she.
He can’t free her.

A tiger roars.
