Dark Reality

I, like dreams, fall
Like shotgun rain,
Loosing it all,
While lost in the pain.

Contemplating your black, twisted sedation,
A tempting escape route
To get away from this whole fucking nation.
Empty eyes full of judgement, of doubt,
Full of clueless people
Never curious to what life’s about.

A never ending quest
To find an end to the trouble
To stop this pounding head and chest
And put an end to this struggle.

You watch, as lights shine at night,
In the home you once knew,
Sitting on the side of the street - wondering,
Are they thinking of you?
Are they missing you, too?
This nightmare called life has come true.

So much time has gone by,
You forgot what it’s like,
To have a shoulder to cry,
When you’re speechless -
At the mike.

Wondering what’s the point?
When the leaders of our country drive Mercades,
And won’t smoke a joint?

General views seem greed-strucken and twirled,
Media devouring your soul,
Tricking your mind to wherever the salespitch is hurled.
Money in their pocket,
That’s their only goal,
And if you don’t see it then you play the fool.
Sitting back behind your T.V.
As bullshit takes its toll,
Saying you take pride in your country,
Because you hang a flag on a pole?

Do you see this heart on my sleeve?
It’s been battered and shot,
Watch as it drips, as it heeds,
To a haulting stop...
Like the innocent man,
That’s been shot by a cop,
But the news - they won’t show it,
So all is forgot.

I don’t care if you like how I speak, act, or dress,
Living in a world I hate,
I’ve got no one to impress.
A world of heartache and turmoil,
This is our fate?
Kids growing up spoiled,
Unable to appreciate what we create?

Whatever the reason,
We got on each day,
Hoping it’s not for nothing,
I just hope one day when I decay,
My life will have meant something...
