Bitter Drink

Stooping low to face the gentle waves
that drifted under my influence.
Heard these waters held sickness that saves
and a simple drink taught despondents to dance.

A hidden path felt through the unclear clearing.
Coarse road had my eyes follow dark skies,
yet the rotating world remained endearing.
Dreadful hope cleverly survived.

Oh Bitter drink, you enhance my sense
to rose-colored cloak and dagger.
I was weary, yet excitement held me tense
to the mystery of the waters held ever-after.

I did not write this about alcohol, but I do see the comparisons and like the idea
