She sat there
across the table from me
as music blared through
the night sky.

Heavy majestic clouds
scented sweetly of strawberries
ushered out her nostrils,
As I asked for her name.

And the crowd around me
mildly danced and laughed
as they pretended to know
their drinks.
Pretending to be adults,
even though they were,
and never will be.

I stayed the same,
though nervous,
as I realized she
was looking at me,
Remembering my name.
Though I had yet
to speak
of such a thing.

I wish I had.

Her.
