He haunts me every night
a ghostly light highlights a darkly lit face
Skin the color of starlight in memory
Dreaded demon of conscious-less embrace
He is my demented tormentor
Treading to and fro from reality
Looming in a shadow that only I’ve ever seen
Only to my comfort I say it’s imaginary
Until he spoke one night
As I was peering in a mirror I saw it
Tormented eye motionlessly peering at me
Disgusting reflection for me to inherit
Hair and teeth corroding to dust
An old man whose life I’ve lived and lost
He whispered in a voice latest his dying gust
“You were always among us”
