Unrepentant

Defending my position in society

This little book of rhyme
holds captive my heart.
No, my mind’s the real upstart.
Credit to my heart’s a crime.
 
Desperation took the real blow
as I took my time in vain.
Rewards of society not yet gain’d,
finding my step a little too slow.
 
A funny argument took place
inside that public workplace.
Employees put on a masquerade
to disguise their desperate facade.
 
And I realized I was them
yet not, I wrote poetry.
They disagreed with me.
I did not have any money.
 
Where’s the profit?
What’s the mark?
Sit down, or stand up?
Either way you are unfit.
 
And they laughed
to seal the argument
without repentance.
Was I wrong?
 
I could not eat poems...
yet they nourished me?
How could this be?
Money was the ultimate totem.
 
But I live with fire in my blood,
consumed by inescapable love,
guided by a wanderless dove,
On desperate shores... I flew above
