leaves of red and gold

leaves of red and gold
come crashing down in disgust
that after such a little time of showing
and finally –perfecting color
the beauty is cast down and trodden upon
as they grope for each other
thinking they could stay on top
so as to see, you
looking at them
or coming with the rake
o the agony of been drugged away
against one wishes
piled high in hopes of catching
a breeze to fly,
as the birds cross the sky
wait for me,
for i will come back with you
in the spring– with all my feathers
plumped and a-new
