Poem: You

I could write
A thousand love poems
That would never be enough
To tell of what you mean to me.

You inspired me
You made me believe
In love that was real
In love that gave me freedom.

With you I was myself
You didn’t judge me
You never criticized me
You just allowed me to be.

You were always bringing me up
You didn’t bring me down
You told me only truth
You gave it to me straight.

In you I found a great friendship
One to be treasured and adored
Something that doesn’t come along often
Maybe only once in a lifetime.

I was able to share anything with you
Without fear, without shame
In the end I hurt you.
Still It is never about me!
