Suzanne, My Mom

To My Mom (Suzanne Yi), happy mothers day, I decided to take a small glance backward. I love you Mom! I hope you like it.

See lookit... right over there, that kid is me
With my thumb in mouth, teeth all crooked and holding a silky
Curly hair and all, I stand looking toward my future
Little Dennis Robert Ball, Eating anchovies in a booster

When I was a boy and life was filled with unknowns
There was a young woman in my life who I didn’t really know
But I truly loved her dearly with every bit of my heart
So much so, I would get mad at her for the times we’d be apart
She had to work a lot to provide for our family
To make something out of life and a better home for me
And though things don’t always work out the way we might plan
I love my Mom for everything she’s done since my life began

I love you Mom!
...and I’ll treasure forever…
Every single moment from my childhood, with you, I remember…

I remember,
That the night time was ours! She’d often read me a story
The Little Critter and The Little Prince, each character voiced in all its glory
She would make Weezle come to life, He’d be talking and moving
Then tuck me into bed, kiss me on the head, and hum to me so soothing

I remember,
When I was a little bit older I’d leave clues in the house all scattered
The poor little treasure hunt, the prize would be on a pizza box so tattered
So at the end she’d find this box filled with crumbs and a message
“I love you mom”, and every time she’d treat it like what I did was impressive

There is so much that’s happened since back then and today, I could tell
So many memories of my Mom and I going through Heaven and Hell
The ups and the downs, the journey of it all
The castles of cards we’d build up and watch fall
Only to build them up again, just using better tools
But there is no need to go unwinding all those spools

Now I’m almost 30 and I can say I know her pretty well
We’ve been through thick and thin, whether I’d play along or I’d rebel
She seen me at my worst and I remember when she wasn’t doing the best
But I’ve watched my Mom grow, and looking at her today I’m truley impressed

Nine hours of labor, so I’ve been told
And I am the reason she isn’t covered with gold
I respect and love my Mom with envy and honor
It’s thanks to my Mother that I want to be stronger

I Love you Mom
…and I’ll treasure forever…
Every single moment I have in this life we’re together

~Roses are red
~I’d always drink all the milk
~And to this day when I’m thinking
~I still pretend to rub silk
