An Old Decay

From ages of circles many questions come,
As yet wisdom asks, “What have we done?
Have we ebbed the trying tides of yesterday,
Or merely better wrought an old decay?”
 
From clubs and spears, rocks and slings,
Death and dearth time onward brings,
Why does yesterday foretell today?
For yet we wrought an old decay!
 
The time of turbulence dawns each sun,
As wisdom asks, “What shall be done?
How can we change, what must we say,
To better wrought an old decay?
