Freedom Rings

When I die
burn my bones,
don’t ask me why,
but I don’t want a gravestone.

Or my name on a block
for I hope that when I leave,
people won’t need a rock
to help them remember me.

I refuse to be
kept in a box.
I wish to be free
of all of life’s locks.

Wind, when my soul is up in heaven
and my body is burned to ashes,
take my embers to places full of passion
away from people’s belligerent actions.

Take me flying on eagles wings,
or sitting pouch on kangaroo springs,
take me riding on the back of mustangs,
just take me away from all of my pangs.
Take me to a place where freedom rings.
