Shattered

Keep on breathing
Keep on going
Never stopping
Never slowing;
Broken heart
Shattered dream
Dry up, stand up
Join the team
Lost and lone
Can’t go on,
Faltering steps
Cannot last long.

Darker thoughts
Deeper fears
Chill the heart
And freeze the tears;
Horror films
Razor blades,
Lock the door
Close the shades.
Need to get out
Need to leave,
There’s no escape
No reprieve;

Loathing self
Hating life
Bring the fire
Bring the strife
Hide away
Live a lie
Let it go
And let me die
No more pain
No more sorrow
No today
No tomorrow.

STOP friend,
Come away,
Come and see
A brighter day
There is purpose
There is hope
There is value—
Put down the rope!

Someone loves you
Someone cares
Someone all your
Sorrow shares
As there’s a God
In heaven above,
He looks down
On you with love.

You are broken
You are lost
That’s why He hung
Upon the cross,
He suffered all
Right to the grave
Then rose again
Mighty to save.
Give Him your pain -
He’s taken worse;
He bore the weight
Of sin’s full curse;
He look the penalty
He bore the lashes
So He could give you
Beauty for ashes.

You’ve done wrong
You’ve caused pain
You’re ensnared
In sin’s deadly chain,
Yet still He loves
And can forgive
By His mercy,
You can live.
Chains will be broken
Hearts will be whole;
True beauty is found
In a sanctified soul.

Your life is empty
Wasted and hollow,
Unfulfilled by the
Passions  you follow;
You’ve heard about God
You don’t think it’s true
That He’s really there
And that He loves you,
You’ve never seen
His grace in your life -
You ask where He was
In your sorrow and strife.

He has been there
Every hour
Present in His
Awesome power.
Why are you living?
Why are you breathing?
Why would God spare one
So unbelieving?
This is mercy
This is grace,
This is the light
Of God’s face.

But that’s not all
His love is more
It was for you
He became poor.
The fury, the fire,
God’s wrath in full
Was borne by Christ
On Calvary’s hill;
For your sin,
He took the blame
So you can live
Free from shame,
To give you heaven,
He took your hell
Suffering more
Than tongue can tell.
All your sin
Was against Him
Yet for you,
He gave everything.

Grace poured out freely
For every nation
How can you reject
So great a salvation?

This was written to be a spoken word poem, but, due to laryngitis, I am not presently able to record it. When I do recover my voice, I will post it on Youtube and put a link here.

Until then, I hope you will enjoy it and take the message to heart.
