Easter Poem

Most loving, purest, Son of God,
Destined to glory.
Wretched, vile, children of hell,
Doomed to burn.

Humble, lowly,
The Righteous One descends.
Proud, mocking,
The fallen ones observe.

The earth trembles under His feet,
All-powerful, all-merciful.
The ignorant and disdainful
Look down and condemn

The Holy One weeps
Alone in mortal agony
The filthy ones plot
To crush and to slay

Bound and abandoned,
The Son is taken.
Malicious and proud,
The rebels damn Him.

Torn and bloody,
The Sacred suffers
Laughing and scornful,
The sinners scourge Him

Nails and thorns
Pierce the Pure One
The hammer and whip
Are wielded by the wicked

Deserted, desecrated,
The Day Star dies
Vicious, victorious,
The venomous rejoice.

But what is this?

The Christ is crushed,
Cruelly crucified.
The slayers are saved,
Righteously redeemed

God’s wrath falls,
To torture the Beloved,
God’s grace and love
Pour down on the hateful.

The Righteous is riven,
The Pure perishes.
The fallen are freed,
The rebels reconciled.
