Dreams & Impressions

The fog of life lifts, the scene before me shifts
Who are those souls that gather?
There, beneath the cliffs
The ocean waves crash in anger
Driven by the shifting earth

When will there be the peace I seek?
Which is among this cacophony
That surrounds myself, and is on every street
On all the paths that I might wander
And never far from my own footsteps

Do I have all that I need?
Or is desire another name for greed?
Am I proud?  And is even that allowed?
Or should I be just a part of a crowd?
Just a small part just a note on a page.

The tablets of this new age
Bring information to cause a rage
That which was not known, now resides
In every mind, and anxious thoughts abide
Control is being lost, and the sands subside.

But peace will come at the dimming of the light
The carpet of previous days and the pattern they made
Will vanish, and then be overlaid
With another life, another journey made
And there is no point in trying to dissuade
