Some Way out of Here

(A parody in the style of a Bob Dylan song )

Who was it said to me that you don’t need to fear?
You don’t need to cry, now that I am near
I will be looking after you, looking for your tear
I’ll make you understand you’re in another sphere

Well I sat down upon the earth within this unlit place
Not knowing what it was that had brought on my disgrace
Perhaps it was my pride that along the road was known
So they sent out their own messenger to stop me going home

Along the way I did discern that that was not the route
I took a turning at the sign, which said ‘to brotherhood’
But a stranger came into my view he wanted all my money
I gave him half; he wanted more, and said that that’s not funny

I left, did not look round, just went ahead towards another place instead
Came across a house which was as quiet as a mouse
No sound, no lights, just an open door
That had a sign up saying “this way for so much more”

So I went into the house, which did have many rooms
Searching for the very things that I thought I needed more
Just then the lights went out and I fell upon the floor
This person picked me up and led me to the door

Outside it’s bright and the neighbours are now in sight
Come to see what’s going on and whether it’s allright
But justice must done they shout as they take me far away
And throw me in this room to keep me close at bay

They wait around, I lost control, I had so much more to say
Unlistening they watched, and I knelt down to pray
But unanswered were my thoughts as I am left alone
All I wanted now was to make the journey home

Accused of what I cannot say and never was it said
But in my dreams it can be told, and I was then full of dread
But some journeys are better made outside of your head
So make sure the path you travel is real and not misread

(2011)

Note: Don’t let your dreams overtake you even if they do reflect some kind of reality
